Choose Compassionate Consumption this Holiday Season..

The Unitarian Universalist Social Committee currently has an online pledge, asking holiday shoppers to spend at least 10% of their gift-giving money on ethically produced/responsible goods.

The pledge is called Choose Compassionate Consumption.

This is really not a hard thing to do, now that items like fair-trade chocolate, coffee, and fruits are more readily available at places like Whole Foods and online venues.  Our own congregation at Countryside will host a Fair Trade Fair on Sunday, December 4.  You can purchase the above foodstuffs, as well as handmade jewelry, crafts, Christmas ornaments, etc.

More information on the Fair Trade Fair to come.
Remember, many vegan-owned businesses also use organic and fair trade ingredients, too.

Consider signing the pledge, and commit to supporting businesses that support the happiness of people, animals, and the planet.
